Chinese Community Centre

The Chinese Community Centre (“CCC”) in the heart of Chinatown, provides a home from home for the community and aims to preserve Chinese identity, culture and art.

Shaftesbury has been a supporter for over twenty years and has been involved in a number of notable initiatives including:

  • funding a part-time position to provide advisory services over a range of queries to improve their quality of life and wellbeing. In 2020/21, this service continued throughout lockdown by telephone, with a focus on organising vaccination appointments and with over 1,500žqueries being dealt with;
  • recognising the lack of Chinese language speaking doctors in local Soho GP practices, for the last two years we have helped fund a Sunday health and wellbeing clinic providing both physical and mental health services, enabling valuable counselling services to continue throughout the lockdown; and
  • in 2021, we funded the return of a youth worker from furlough to run the youth club and summer youth project, bringing together young people in a range of activities that had been put on hold during periods of lockdown.
