Winter COVID-19 Restrictions in the West End
Following the November lockdown, the Government has announced a return to the tiered restriction system from December 2, 2020. London will be in Tier 2 (High Alert) until at least December 16, when the Government will review the allocations in line with infection rates meaning non-essential retail and hospitality businesses will be able to open across all tiers with varying restrictions.
Our priority remains to do what we can to keep residents, businesses and customers safe by ensuring that all reopening retail and hospitality is Covid-secure. The appropriate signage and social distancing guidelines will remain in place across all villages, as well as hand sanitation points at key locations. When travelling to our villages, visitors are encouraged to cycle or walk where possible, making particular use of the free bike parking hubs in Seven Dials and Carnaby.
This has been a challenging year for business across the West End with it likely to continue into the New Year. We are pleased to be able to welcome back some visitors, which helps support the retail and hospitality sectors over the coming weeks, however it’s imperative we don’t undo the hard work and sacrifices undertaken in preventing the spread of the virus to date. To that end we will be working to ensure social distancing is maintained across our villages and that local businesses continue to main their safety measures.
We look forward to safely welcoming new and returning visitors back to our villages this festive period and remain committed to helping the West End recover and thrive in 2021.
